The Difficulties of Flying
Choreographed by Crystal Michelle Perkins

My first rehearsal process in college was one that not only challenged me in several ways, but also intensified my growing love for this beautiful art form. I don't think I was completely physically or mentally prepared for this entire experience, but I truly believe working with Crystal Perkins and the rest of the amazing cast for a semester brought out a part of me that is now ready for other challenges. In a matter of 15 weeks, a beautiful piece based on an African folklore was created with African-Contemporary based movement that tested my physical limits with its high-intensity needs. I originally felt out of my comfort zone with this style when rehearsals began. With the faculty concert over, I realize that I can use this as an expansion of knowledge and artistry, and I am so grateful to have gone through this journey with all the people involved and to be able to have learned from all of them.
